New Website, New Ideas

Welcome to my new website! The old one was in desperate need of an overhaul - it was slow, buggy, and outdated. I coded much of it myself in high school, and I was stuck in the sunk cost fallacy and was too stubborn to change it. However, it was quicker for me to create a whole new website than it was to maintain the old one, so here we are. This one has a lot of the same content as the old matthewkimbley.com, except it should look a lot cleaner and be more updated. It’s also much simpler setup on the backend, so it should be much easier to maintain.

In addition to creating a new website, I wanted to try some other new things. The first of the new things is a blog. This won’t be on any sort of schedule, but I wanted to try it out because I have a lot of random things I want to share about classical music. Some of these are fairly mundane, such as interesting underrated pieces I found or frustrations around a certain passage of a piece I’m learning. Others may be more dense, such as racism in music or competition drama. I will probably also use this as a platform for marketing sharing some of my upcoming opportunities and reflecting on past events.

If any of this interests you, I hope you will follow along on this journey! We’ll see how long it lasts and how it looks long term. Thanks again for stopping by!
